What to Expect...

Therapy.

A space to think, feel and make sense of your experience

Beginning therapy can feel both hopeful and daunting.

You might have a clear reason for reaching out. Or maybe you simply know something doesn't feel quite right anymore. Sometimes people arrive after a crisis. Sometimes nothing dramatic has happened at all. They have just realised they are exhausted from carrying life in the same way for so long.

Whatever brings you here, you don't need to have the “right” words.

Therapy isn't about performing, being "good" at talking, or arriving with your thoughts neatly organised. It is a place to become curious about yourself. Together, we'll slow things down enough to notice what has been asking for your attention.

Sometimes that means understanding where old patterns came from. Sometimes it means grieving what was missing. Sometimes it means discovering parts of yourself that have been quietly waiting to be heard.

How I work

My practice is integrative, drawing primarily from person centred, psychodynamic, attachment and existential approaches.

In practice, that simply means I don't believe one model fits everyone.

We'll work together to understand not only what you're struggling with today, but also how your relationships, experiences, values and personal story have shaped the way you move through the world. Rather than searching for quick fixes, I'm interested in helping you develop a deeper understanding of yourself because lasting change often begins with being understood, rather than being fixed.

I see therapy as something we create together. You are the expert on your own life. My role is to bring curiosity, compassion and psychological knowledge into the conversation, helping us explore what may not yet have words.

What to expect

Sessions last 50 minutes and take place online using a secure video platform.

Some sessions will flow easily. Others may feel slower, quieter or uncertain. All of that is part of the process.

There isn't a checklist to work through or a script to follow. We begin wherever you are that day.

Sometimes we'll sit with difficult emotions. Sometimes we'll explore the past, and patterns you've never quite seen before. Sometimes we'll laugh. Sometimes we'll simply stay with a question a little longer instead of rushing towards an answer.

I don't believe therapy is about becoming someone different.

I believe it's about becoming more fully yourself.

What to bring

Just yourself. You don't need to prepare, impress me, or know exactly what you want to say. Bring the thoughts you've been going round in circles with. Bring the conversation you've been rehearsing in your head. Bring the things that don't quite make sense yet.

We'll begin there.

If you're feeling nervous...I'd almost expect you to be. Meeting someone new and talking about yourself can feel vulnerable. Many people worry they'll cry, say too much, not say enough, or discover there isn't anything worth talking about.

I promise you, I've heard all of those worries before.

Our first session isn't about diving into the deepest parts of your life. It's about getting to know one another, understanding what has brought you here, and exploring whether working together feels like the right fit.

Therapy isn't about having life figured out before you begin.

In many ways, it's the place where you finally allow yourself not to have to.
